Former Sidemen Become an Instant Hit

In 2007 a new duo, formed when sidemen from two legendary bluegrass acts teamed up, recorded a Gillian Welch number, "By the Mark." The song became an instant hit and catipulted the duo, Dailey & Vincent, to instant superstardom.

"Dailey" is Jamie Dailey, who spent over a decade as guitarist and tenor singer for Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. "Vincent" is Darrin Vincent, former singer, guitarist and mandolinist with Ricky Skaggs' band Kentucky Thunder as well as younger brother of Rhonda Vincent.

The duo signed with iconic roots label Rounder Records and released their self-titled first album in 2008. Critical and commercial acceptance was immediate and wide-ranging. The album topped the bluegrass charts throughout the country. That October, at the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards, Dailey & Vincent cleaned up, winning Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Album of the Year, Gospel Recording of the Year, and Emerging Artist of the Year. Additionally, Jamie Dailey was named Male Vocalist of the Year.

Awards and Praise Pour In

In 2009 Dailey & Vincent released two albums. Their second album, Brothers From Different Mothers, continued the trend of commercial and critical success, and their third album, released late in the year, was an all- a cappella gospel CD titled Singing From the Heart. They took home yet more awards at IBMA that year, repeating as Entertainer and Vocal Group of the Year winners.

In early 2010 Dailey & Vincent took a huge gamble when they recorded a tribute to their favorite performers, the Statler Brothers. The risk was compounded by the fact that the CD was released by Rounder in conjunction with Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores, meaning the CD would only be available for sale through the Cracker Barrel web site or at stores. Despite these drawbacks the album, Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers was a runaway success. Their version of the Statlers' #1 hit "Elizabeth" was nominated for a "Best Country Performance by Duo or Group with Vocals" Grammy.

Meanwhile, Dailey & Vincent continued to own the IBMA awards. Since their repeat Entertainer and Vocal awards in 2010 they have, in just three years of existence as an act, won eleven IBMA awards. These tallies do not take into consideration the awards each man won while members of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver or Kentucky Thunder, either!

The Future Looks Bright

Dailey, born June 9, 1975 in Corbin, Kentucky, and Vincent, born December 27, 1969 in Kirkville, Missouri, are currently preparing to record their fifth album for release in 2011.  They continue to tour before sold-out audiences throughout the nation.  They are well-loved for their traditionalist approach to bluegrass, combining stellar harmonies and superb musicianship.  They frequently guest on Nashville's Grand Ole Opry when they are not on the road.

The future can hold nothing but more good things for Dailey & Vincent.
